General FAQ’s


Q. Is the fee refundable if I cannot attend the course?

A. As payment of the fee secures your place the fee is non-refundable. If you cannot attend your course please email us via the Contact Us page PRIOR the course date and we will endeavour to transfer your booking to an alternative course.


Q. I've been told my course was cancelled. What happens next?

A. The Course organiser may offer you an alternative course date. If this is not suitable please email us via the Contact Us page explaining that your course was cancelled and indicate your choice of an alternative course date and venue from the site listings and we will endeavour to transfer your booking onto that course or refund your payment.


Q. Can I change the booking details after the booking is made?

A. If you need to change your booking details please email us via the Contact Us page and we will endeavour to facilitate the change if possible.


Q. When will I receive the Course Organisers contact details?

A. The course organisers contact details including telephone number will be on your booking confirmation.


Q. How will I know my booking is successful?

A. You will receive an automatic non-reply email of the booking and payment receipt. It is a requirement that a print-out of your email confirmation is presented on the day of the course.


Q. What if the person attending has difficulty with reading and writing?

A. This is not usually a problem for most courses. We advise that the candidate contact the course organiser to inform them, their details will be on the booking confirmation.


Q. Where will my card/certificate be sent?

A. It will be normally be sent to the address you provide on the registration form. If you need it to be sent to another address you need to inform the tutor.


Q. Can I book the training course by telephone through Quick Training?

A. No. Quick Training only accept online bookings.


Q. How can I contact Quick Training?

A. Click on the " Contact Us " icon and fill in the details of your query and we will respond as quickly as possible.


Q. Will refreshments or lunch be provided with the training?

A. Only where the training course specifies that it is included. Otherwise it will not.


Q. What should I do if my card/certificate does not arrive?

A. You should contact the course organiser whose details will be on your booking confirmation email.


Q. What if I am late for my course?

A. It is up to the tutor, however guidelines state that no person may join the course after the course induction.


Q. Will I qualify for my card if I have to leave early?

A. No. The entire course and assessment must be completed.



Safe Pass FAQ’s


Q. What happens if I don't have a PPS number for Safe Pass?

A. All applicants MUST have a valid PPS number for Safe Pass and bring it with them on the day of the course. Any applicant without a Valid PPS number on the day will be turned away.


Q. Will I have evidence that I have completed the Safe Pass course?

A. Inform the tutor that you request a comfort letter confirming completion of the Safe Pass course at the end of the course.


Q. What if I discover a problem with the Safe Pass card such as an incorrect photo?

A. You should contact the course organiser who will arrange with SOLAS to have a replacement card issued. You will receive details of the course organiser when you complete the booking process.


Q. What legislation requires people to have a Safe Pass Card?

A. Construction Regulations require all site workers to have a SOLAS Safe Pass card.


Q. How long is the Safe Pass course?

A. The Safe Pass course is a full day. Start and end times will be on your booking confirmation.


Q. What is the purpose of the Safe Pass Course?

A. The Safe Pass Programme is a one-day basic safety awareness training course aimed at all construction site personnel. It is to ensure that they have a basic knowledge of health and safety with a view to the prevention of accidents and avoidance of health hazards.


Q. Is the Safe Pass course open to everyone?

A. No. Candidates must have a good understanding of the English language except courses in a specified language. All applicants Must be a minimum of 16 years of age, have a valid PPS number and Photo ID.


Q. For Safe pass, is there an assessment?

A. There is a multiple-choice assessment at the end of the Safe Pass course. Questions and answers will be read out by the tutor.


Q. What is the pass rate for Safe Pass training?

A. It depends on the tutor however most tutors have an excellent pass rate.


Q. Will I qualify for a Safe Pass card if I have to leave early?

A. No. An assessment must be completed at the end of the course.


Q. How long does it take for the Safe Pass card to be processed?

A. It usually takes about a month however you can be issued with an application number once you have completed the course and the tutor has uploaded your details onto the SOLAS database.


Q. How long will the Safe Pass card be valid?

A. The card will be valid for four years.


Q. Will I have to complete another Safe Pass course once the card has expired?

A. Yes, another Safe Pass course must be completed.


Q. What should I do if I lose my Safe Pass card?

A. You should contact the SOLAS Safe Pass unit on 01-233 2500 or visit the SOLAS website on www.SOLAS.ie. They will advise you on getting a replacement card.


Q. Should my employer hold onto my Safe Pass card?

A. No. You may give your employer a photocopy of the card but the original must stay with the individual who attended the course and be available to be presented on site to a HSA inspector at all times.


Q. Is it possible to fast track getting the Safe Pass card?

A. No.


Q. What if I have not got or cannot find my PPS number?

A. An application for a Safe Pass card can only be processed with a valid PPS number.


Q. Where can I get a PPS number?

A. You need to contact your local Department of Social Protection office.


Q. What do I need to bring with me on the Safe Pass course?

A. You will need to bring the following:

  • Your PPS number.
  • Your Passport photograph.
  • Balance of Payment in the event that the remainder has not been paid prior to the course date.

Q. What if I cannot get a passport photo before the start of the course?

A. You will need to get a photograph during the breaks. A photo must be provided before the end of the course.


Q. What subjects are covered in the Safe Pass course?

A. A variety of health and safety subjects are covered in the course.


Q. Will I get a Fetac/QQI certificate with the Safe Pass card?

A. No. The safe pass course does not qualify for a fetac certificate.



CSCS FAQ’s


Q. Is a PPS number required for CSCS?

A. You will require either a valid PPS number or UK National Insurance number to attend.


Q. Is there an assessment?

A. For most CSCS courses there is both a multiple choice and practical assessment at the end of the course.


Q. How long does it take for the CSCS card to be processed?

A. It usually takes about a month.


Q. How long will the CSCS card be valid?

A. The card will be valid for five years. After that, you’ll need to apply for a renewal card online at www.solas.ie.


Q. Should my employer hold onto my CSCS card?

A. No. You may give your employer a photocopy of the card but the original must stay with the individual who attended the course and be available to be presented on site to a HSA inspector at all times.


Q. Is it possible to fast track getting the CSCS card?

A. No.

  • Balance of Payment in the event that the payment has not been made in full

  • Reading glasses if required
  • PPE as specified by the training organiser


Q. What if I cannot get a passport photo before the start of the course?

A. You will need to get a photograph during the breaks. A hardcopy photo must be provided before the end of the course.


Q. What time does the course start?

A. Induction for the course starts at 8am unless otherwise specified.


Q. Is the CSCS course open to everyone?

A. No. Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age, have a good understanding of the English language except courses in a specified language, be physically fit and disclose and serious illness or injury to the training organisation prior to attending the course. Applicants must complete a candidate pack which will be provided by the training organisation.



Manual Handling FAQ’s


Q. What do I need to bring with me on the course?

A. You will need to bring the following:

  • Your booking confirmation.
  • Balance of Payment in the event that the remainder has not been paid prior to the course date.
  • Photo ID - Passport/ drivers licence/ current or expired Safe Pass card.
  • Reading glasses if required.


Q. Is the Manual Handling course open to everyone?

A. No. Candidates must have a good understanding of the English language except courses in a specified language and must disclose any serious illness or injury to the training organisation prior to attending the course. All applicants Must be 16 years of age or over.


Q. Do I require a PPS number for my Manual Handling course?

A. No. A PPS number is not required


Q. Will I be given evidence that I have completed my Manual Handling course?

A. This is the decision of the course organiser. You will receive a receipt on completion of payment. Will there be an assessment? A. There is usually a multiple choice and practical assessment at the end of the course.


Q. How long does it take for the Manual Handling certificate to be processed?

A. It usually takes about a week.


Q. How long will the Manual Handling Certificate be valid?

A. Typically 3 years however this may vary.


Q. What should I do if I lose my Manual Handling Certificate?

A. You should contact your course organiser. They may require a fee for a replacement certificate.


Q. What legislation requires people to have Manual Handling training?

A. This requirement is found in the Safety Health and Welfare at Work act.
